Baxter Industries, working closely with several aggressive profiles, created the first successful transferred robot. In 2133, they coined the term 't-bot' to refer to an empty robot body that was designed and constructed for the express purpose of receiving and storing a human soul. (See The Fallback Era in the Time Line.)

As the project evolved, the term 't-bot' was also also used when referring to their end product of a robotic human soul. After time, this term was dropped in favor of the more respectful term 'metalface.'
