Several profiles have taken control of territories and begun to enforce opposing laws. For example, one farming technology firm will ban the use of personal communication devices of anyone visiting their zone from another profile... while another competing profile will require their citizens to maintain personal connections to their central hub at all times. Since it is very common that individuals would travel and even conduct business among different zones, this poses very tricky conflicts for people on either side.
Some profiles do not have conflicting laws, but do claim control over the same areas or even over the same unique and protected designs of technology. Occasionally, these conflicts will revolve around personnel, equipment, resources, or even datafiles.
Earth Council has vowed to devote it's efforts to ensuring the future of the Earth and it's resources and has therefore declared disputes between profiles (that do not endanger the environment) as internal conflicts unworthy of their attention. This leaves profiles to resolve these matters as they see fit. More often than not, diplomacy is left off the list of options.
Profiles wars have consumed a large number of internal resources and even the general population. Many freelancers make good money off a profile dispute here or an ongoing war there. Even some profiles themselves make their primary profits off the wars between other profiles.
