Models of Metalface
Metalface production is an exact and demanding science. Only a handful of organizations and projects have have the resources required to successfully create and support metalface units. Only five models remain in operation today; Vectorons, Servites, Tekkers, Golems and Akias.

Despite the poor reputations they have been assigned, vectorons are still produced due to the shear strength they have been able to display. Those who transfer into a vectoron usually accept the disadvantages in favor of the power and strength. However, most of these individuals are not very stable to begin with, so it has been argued that the vectoron model is not flawed, only abused.
The subject has little or no preparation beforehand. Most subjects are told as little as possible to reduce stress and tension. The subject is restrained from head to foot on a positioning table and blindfolded for comfort. The table is then wheeled into place in front of the extraction arm of the vectoron generator.
Vectoron hearts retain a mixture of base constructed fluid and part original brain fluid. This is done by the extracting arm. The extracting arm drills into the back of the subject’s brain and extracts a small portion of fluid. This brain fluid gives the constructed fluid the right passive brain pattern to retain the transferred soul. The process was developed to maximize production of vectoron troops during an era of war, therefore the process is extremely painful to the subject, yet very quick. Pain-numbing drugs taint the retrieved brain fluid and, as such, are not available during transference.
Soon after the drilling begins, the subject is flooded with tension pattern waves. Tension pattern waves are a concept in natural Earth energy that allows natural energy patterns to be controlled and manipulated. The tension pattern waves draw the soul out of the body and confine it to the cyberneural heart. Soon the fluid takes hold and the soul remains in place as the waves are slowly reduced.
Next, the generator electrifies the metal body with controlled bursts in order to establish connection patterns with the host heart. This process could take between two to seven minutes. After the connections are established, the metal body is released and drops onto a softened platform. The shock of the drop should start the soul to take hold and begin exploring the connections and movements of the new body. If not, more tension pattern waves can be introduced until movement begins.
The entire process is extremely taxing on the subject and even those who quickly take hold and master their new body must remain still and rest from the ordeal. The pain and system shock has even been known to alter personalities, making passive people aggressive and aggressive people paranoid. Those who seek to become vectoron may never fully recover from the process. But for those who seek power and strength, it is just another gauntlet to bear.
Vectorons have typically expressed violent desire to exert force and control over their situations. Most have used their new power to crush old enemies or seize control of little known profiles. These types of behavior patterns have long been considered to be a flaw of the generation process, but recent studies have concluded that the intentions of the human subject is the true cause of the aggressive vectoron nature.
While some vectorons display socially acceptable behavior and reasoning, most teeter on the brink of madness and either embrace their new lust for power, or constantly fight urges of mayhem and destruction. However, vectorons are capable mercenaries and soldiers.

Servite models are much more difficult to generate. A specialized team of transfer technicians must be present at every transference and each case is handled differently depending on a number of elements. Throughout the process, certain connections could fail without notice. The servite transfer technicians examine failed connections and determine whether they are vital enough to reattempt or fit for disposable. This was a drastic change from the vectoron generators that would discard such connections and attempt different connections. This makes sensory perception much more realistic in the servite body.
The subject is prepared up to a month before the process. Various mental exercises are taught and the subject is told all about the process and what can be expected. Some case histories are explained and occasionally a servite metalface will volunteer to relay his/her personal experiences. Extensive paper work and personality testing is done to ensure that the subject is willing and mentally able to undergo the process.
On the day of transfer, the subject is placed on a special table and instructed to perform a mental exercise that prepares the soul for transfer. The generator’s extraction arm is then placed over the subject. No drills or painful devices are used. Instead, due to the advanced tension pattern waves, the passive brain pattern is exactly duplicated and the subject’s body is not pierced.
Special plates on the subject’s table warm up and aid the tension pattern waves in projecting the soul out of the human body and into the cyberneural heart. From this point on, almost an hour of testing and retesting connections with the new contained pattern is conducted before the final flood of electrical power jolts the heart into life. The body is then dropped into a tank of water that both cools the body and serves to shock the soul out of its trance.
The new metalface quickly adapts to its new forms thanks in part to the extensive training and also in part to the human mechanics. Most subjects find that the new body feels very much like their old body with the obvious minor distractions. Some subjects have even reported being able to feel the sensation of real skin when, in most cases, the sensation of touch is nullified and stale. Even rarer cases report an abnormal control of installed devices such as extended range, enhanced use or augmented power which cannot be scientifically explained.
The human technicians also provide additional benefits to the new servite by helping to set positive and ethical goals and career options. The sense of teamwork, unity and helping your fellow man are evidenced in the commitment and dedication of the servite transfer technicians. Many cases contribute their success and new life to the tireless workers in the lab.
As a result of the care and professionalism of the process, most servites display great patience and a strong desire for cooperation. This allows them to work well with others. Servite make great doctors and roboticians but can also be skilled trackers and soldiers.

Tekker models attempted to take the best of both previous models and find a safe and stable compromise. By targeting strength and quick generation of vectorons and stable and versatile control of servites, it was proposed that a better alternative could be created. A unique approach was taken to the problem of establishing cyberneural connections by introducing a complex series of nanites into the cyberneural heart. The nanites were able to generate stable connections much faster and accurately than previous models. The nanites are unable to be removed once connections are made active. Therefore every tekker has a series of "null" nanites within his heart that do little more than help to conserve energy.
The subjects are all given psychological screening and transference is denied to all but only a select few. Those that are denied have the option of going through external therapy and returning at a later date to try the screening again. The subjects that proceed to transference are given little preparation. Depending on their screening result, some bypass prep time altogether.
On the day of transfer, the same process is employed as that of servite generators with one minor change; nanites are injected in the heart and establish connections in a matter of minutes instead of the hours that a team of technicians would take. Once connections are made, the nanites remain in a low-active state for the rest of the tekker's life. However, subjects are almost always able to control their tools and devices with much more speed and control than they ever could as a human. It is believed that the null nanites are often able to reactivate and perform tasks upon mere thought.
Tekkers find that adjusting to a new life is tough, but most are stable enough to endure the hardships. Almost all tekkers have been able to use tools and devices with a far greater degree of control than the most skilled humans and, as a result, find that the advantages of tekker life far outweigh the disadvantages.
A good tekker will take the age-old approach to making the most of their new talents; selling their services to the highest bidder. A great tekker will offer their services for donations and rely on the kindness of others to make a living. Some tekkers are concerned with little more than money. It’s very common for tekkers to discuss payment contracts and terms of service before details of actual work are mentioned.
Tekkers make excellent mechanics, coders and doctors.
Classes of Metalface
Each metalface model has up to five base classes to choose from. Classes are brief descriptions of a metalface design. Each class has it’s strong points and it’s weak points.
ALPHA 4500c
(3 storage bays)
Spies, trackers and infiltration specialists. Alphas are usually the smallest, fastest and most agile of all metalface. Often employed in surveillance or espionage rolls, their small bodies, low energy, few weapons and unmatched speed make them masters of their art.
BETA 5000c
(4 storage bays)
Scientific and technological wizards. Betas have high energy capacity to use special devices of custom design. Commonly employed as researchers and industrial mechanics, betas have been known to marvel the rest of their fellow employees with their inhuman ability to adapt to any situation and solve any problem.
GAMMA 6000c
(6 storage bays)
Patrolman, sentries and foot soldiers. Gammas are the most common class of metalface. Their simple yet effective design allows them to adapt to any Profession or function without the need to specialize. Gammas have average values in all areas which often allows them to act as jacks-of-all-trades.
DELTA 7500c
(6 storage bays)
Strategic and tactical leaders. Stronger and better equipped than previous classes, with a stronger frame, Deltas are designed to specialize. Deltas are commonly found in command positions due to the combination of their strong bodies and mental abilities.
OMEGA 10,000c
(8 storage bays)
Ultimate combat warriors. Strongest and toughest of all classes, Omegas are the front line defense against any threat, and the most feared attackers to any fortress. Strong frames and extra storage bays mean less room for energy banks. But with the right weapons installed, these brutes never need extra energy.
