The grid gives instant and unrestricted access to all persons to any and all information anywhere in the world. Users can learn new languages, connect their personal devices to an on-line software repair site and download an entire library of foreign recipes all while watching their favorite episode of ‘Johnny Rocket and His Amazing Flying Robot.’
News, radio, television, movies, internet, email, telephone and any other source of entertainment, information and communication are all grouped together on the grid but separated by functionality.
Some functions of the grid are rated with security levels so that little Bobby can't learn the secrets of making global thermal nuclear devices out of toaster ovens. If a function or section of the grid requires a security clearance, it must be acquired either through Earth Council or through various local Grid Regulation Offices found in almost every major profile.

- System Control which grants access to local computer systems, facility controls and electronic equipment.
